How to introduce this clip
“Three of the four gospel accounts tell us the story of a woman who had suffered terribly from an issue of bleeding, and when she shows up in The Chosen, it’s incredibly moving. And when she finally has her chance in the show to draw near to Jesus to maybe, just maybe, find healing? Let’s watch…”
*If your church does not know about The Chosen, before you show the scene, you might also want to tell them the following: “The Chosen is a television show that tells the story of Jesus through the eyes of the people who knew him.”
Discussion Questions
1. The woman in the clip is determined to touch Jesus, because she knows one touch will heal her. When have you exhibited a faith that moved you to act, and what was the result?
2. What obstacle are you facing or what area of your life requires an increased amount of faith?
3. Why do you think Jesus wanted to know who touched him?
4. Let’s take a minute to read Luke 8:40-56. In both scripture and in the show, the woman’s story is placed right alongside Jairus’s. Where are there similarities? Where are there differences? And what might the significance be of Jesus calling the woman “Daughter”?
5. Jesus told the woman that she had blessed him. In what ways does your life bless Jesus?
